For 20 years, the symbolic YCM J/24 fleet has been teaching adults to sail and has introduced a lot of crew members to racing, many of whom go on to compete in Match Races, Smeralda 888s, other Maxi series and top-level one-design race series.
Every Saturday morning, the Yacht Club de Monaco’s pontoons are bustling with sailing enthusiasts ready to learn the rudiments of sailing, or to battle it out round the buoys with their sights set on the Monaco Championship. A real challenge which is organised every month over a weekend, this J/24 Championship brings together 16 teams. The stakes are high, because the first two crews automatically qualify to represent the YCM and compete in the Dennis Conner International Yacht Club Challenge in Manhattan.
After races held between September 2009 and June 2010, brothers Jean and Claude Rodelato won the Monaco Championship 2009-2010 for the fifth year running.
The 2011 Monaco Championship is already shaping up to be a very close challenge !
