Nicolas Bouchet continues his adventure

50th Course Croisière Edhec

20-28 April 2018

From Optimist to Laser via offshore racing, Nicolas Bouchet, member of the YCM’s Sports Section, continues to make his mark on race areas all over Europe. After a 4th place at the Match Racing French Championship end of March, he again proved his talents this time in Brest at the EDHEC Sailing Cup (offshore race), Europe’s top sporting event for students which attracts over 3,000 participants every year.

Engaged on Team Voile Centrale Nantes, Nicolas brought his experience to the helm of the J/80 which he sailed with skill throughout the week. The crew were proactive and quick on the coastal race as well as the other conventional races. Staying in contact with the best including Simon Moriceau, winner of the last Spi Ouest France, the team stayed focused to the end. Despite hanging on to 3rd place until the halfway mark, the adventure ended for this valiant crew at the semi-final stage. “Bitterly disappointed but the course has already been fabulous,” said Nicolas who will be at the Grand Prix de l’Ecole Navale, the French Championship for mono-hull cruisers.
