On course for 4th year of concrete activities for the future of Yachting in the Principality

Cluster Yachting Monaco

Still with the wind in its sails, the yachting industry in Monaco continues to expand. At the end of the Cluster Yachting Monaco’s General Assembly, held on Tuesday 10th October 2017, members reviewed actions taken over the last 12 months and elected a new board.

It was generally agreed to continue with initiatives already in progress, and elect the same Board as 2017. “I want to congratulate all those involved in the work accomplished over the last three years. I am delighted by the spirit of collaboration and exchange that drives the discussions and feeds into the working groups. Together we have succeeded in getting yachting recognised as an important industry for the Principality. It is now ranked 4th in terms of revenue,” said Bernard d’Alessandri, as he enters his fourth year as Cluster President.

A reminder that the Cluster Yachting Monaco was launched in 2014, and unites around 60 of the 150 professionals working in the sector in Monaco. A workforce of 1,500 generates annual revenue topping €750 million.

Among projects for 2018, it was agreed to continue the road map drawn up in 2017. This is based on supporting the education and training of the next generation, in partnership with the International University of Monaco (IUM), as well as establishing a standardised Welcome Charter, in partnership with the SBM. The latter initiative kicked-off in 2017 with a survey by the Nielsen company highlighting advantages of the maritime sector in the Principality and where improvements could be made.

To promote Monaco’s yachting sector abroad, Cluster members will be at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show in October, the Global Super Yacht Forum in November, the Dubai Yacht Show in February 2018 and the Singapore Yacht Show in March.

Lastly, 2018 will be marked by two major events: the 2nd Spring Pop-Up in April and the 3rd Rendezvous du Yachting Monaco in May, the theme of which will be safety and security.
