Coach Regatta – Marseille – 18/19 January 2020

Sunday 19th January 2020. Eight sailors from the Yacht Club de Monaco’s Sports Section were in Marseille for the 4th Coach Regatta. The format is like that of the Monaco Optimist Academy which allows coaches to intervene and interact with their charges during the racing and attracted 130 competitors. It means sailors are competing for real, but able to focus on certain techniques. Lined up on the start in the older Benjamin category, the YCM’s youngsters did themselves proud over the five races run in ideal 5-15 knot Mistral conditions on the Saturday and an 8-12 knot northerly on the Sunday. Congratulations to Ludovica Bonelli who climbed up the ranking to clinch 3rd place. Julian Choquenet finished 8th,  Namu Van der Linden 12th, Joachim de Tayrac 17th, Alexander Pompée 24th, Alessandro Asscher 27th, Louise Debeaumont 35th and Riccardo Gessa 49th.
