35e PRIMO CUP – TROPHÉE CREDIT SUISSE

7-10 février 2019 : J/70, Melges 20, Smeralda 888, H22 et Longtze Premier

Two more races were completed today by the Yacht Club de Monaco’s Race Committee on the second day for the J/70 and Melges 20 classes and one for the H22, Longtze Premier and Smeralda 888s.

In the J/70s a win and 4th place was enough to propel Irishman Ian Wilson, J/70 International Class President, to the top of the provisional ranking, just ahead of the Russian team on Maria helmed by Andrei Malygin, winner of the second race. Monegasque Ludovico Fassitelli (Junda – Banca del Sempione) put in a good performance to hang on to his 3rd place.

In the Melges 20s, two Monaco teams Orel Kalomeni (Arcora) and Valentin Zavadnikov (Synergy) are equal on points at the top of the provisional ranking, followed by a trio of Russians.

In the Smeralda 888 it’s a battle royal between three YCM members, as Class President Charles de Bourbon des Deux-Siciles (Vamos mi amor) moves into 2nd place sandwiched between leader Vincenzo Onorato (Mascalzone Latino) and Timofey Sukhotin (Beda).

In the H22, winner of today’s race Benedetto di Venosa (Adreanalina) now has the edge over his compatriot, Roberto Iorio (Splinter).

In the Longtze Premier the German Thomas Begher (Corvus) takes the lead ahead of the always consistent Swiss Jarmo Wieland (Shensu).

There is still everything to play for in nearly all classes.

Last day of racing starts Sunday from 11.00am.
