Two days of gales were erased from the memory today as the Moderns, Classics, Wally and Tofinou classes could not resist the still windy conditions to complete one race.
The four centenarian gaff cutters, Mariska, The Lady Anne, Tuiga and Hispania took full advantage of the starting procedure for the big gaff cutters to complete one very significant race for their championship. However, the 15M IRs who have managed three races since Monday will still have to wait unl Saturday to know who wins the 2015 trophy.
This evening, Tuiga is on equal points with Mariska and has to win tomorrow to claim the title. Today was also special as it was dedicated to the Wally Genie of the Lamp celebrating her 20th anniversary, which saw many boats dressed overall and sounding their horns in salute as she returned to harbour. At the end of the third race of the week, Claus-Peter Offen’s big Wally Y3K (Frers 2009) is in full command of the provisional overall ranking.
