At the opening meeting of the season, which combined a golf match and mini-regatta at the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, the Monegasque team led by Adalberto Miani won the competition, ahead of Costa Smeralda and the Yacht Club Lignano.

After a spate of arrivals on Wednesday morning, the Mini-Maxi 72 of Roberto Tomasini Grinover, Robertissima was declared winner on corrected time of the Rolex Capri Sailing Week’s offshore Volcano Race.
The 9th Hippocampe Cup organised last weekend by the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez and the Smeralda Association saw YCM members take first, second and third place.
Having won the 1st Audi Melges 20 Russian Open Champions on this body of water in Italy, Valentin Zavadnikov (Synergy, 29 pts) has distinguished himself again.
Many congratulations to Valentin Zavadnikov, Yacht Club de Monaco society member, who put in a brilliant performance in the 1st edition of the Audi Melges 20 Russian Open Championship last weekend, to win the competition in Porto Ercole in Italy.
Italians, Austrians and Monegasques were in San Remo this weekend for the 2nd edition of the J/70 Italy Cup.
Skippered by Yacht Club de Monaco society member Roberto Tomasini Grinover, Robertissima III, a Mini Maxi 72, finished an excellent 2nd in the PalmaVela 2014 in the bay of Palma, Mallorca.
While the youngest from the Yacht Club de Monaco’s competition team were battling it out in Cannes, the older sailors on Lasers were to be found in Malcesine on Lake Garda in Italy for the Europa Cup.
The Pointe Croisette district in Cannes was awash with little boats from 20th to 25th April when it hosted the 2014 Optimist Spring Cup (Coupe Internationale de Printemps Optimist), a qualifying event for the European and World Championships.
Late Saturday afternoon, the MEROCEANS scientific expedition sailing yacht NAVOSE (Navire à Voile d'Observation Scientifique de l'Environnement) tied up in front of the Yacht Club de Monaco on the Ponton du Prince.
More than 20 boats came together on Saturday for the Lorenzi Cup, a coastal race organised by the Yacht Club de Monaco in honour of Jean Lorenzi, who started the YCM’s Sports Section and is one of its most active volunteers.
As part of the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters, 12th to 20th April 2014, in collaboration with the ATP, world number one Rafael Nadal, eight-time champion of the Monaco tournament, was invited to sail on the 1909 gaff cutter Tuiga by Bernard d’Alessandri, Secretary General of the Yacht Club de Monaco.
Another stage in the selection process for the French championships took place in Antibes on Sunday, 13th April.Following the continued success of the Monaco Optimist Team Race and with the invaluable support of members, Ian Ilsley, Josh and John Warren, the YCM is organising a 2nd edition of the Monaco 2K Team Race from 7 to 9 March 2014.
